What’s Chilli Fiesta all about?

Welcome to West Dean’s Chilli Fiesta 2015, now one of the UK’s largest and most popular chilli events.

Celebrate with us! Join us for an exciting line up of entertainment, fireworks on Saturday and three day camping.

Chilli Fiesta is a family-friendly festival in the stunning surrounds of West Dean Gardens and against the backdrop of West Dean College.

For a fraction of the cost of Glastonbury or Glyndebourne, spice-loving punters can stay for three days of capsicum carnage’, Daily Telegraph.

To give a real party atmosphere to the weekend there will be live music from midday until 9.00 pm on Friday and Saturday and 6.00 pm on Sunday. When the main stage closes the party continues in the Paradiso Latino Cabaret Tent with more live music and a 1990’s disco on the Friday and Saturday night (open until 11.00 pm).

Watch food demonstrations in the Cookery Theatre, sample some delicious delights and there will be plenty of food stalls to keep your hunger pangs at bay.

Food, drink and stalls

Watch food demos, sample some delicious delights and be tempted by a variety of food stalls or a visit to the Gardens Restaurant.

Three on-site bars will offer a selection of beverages from traditional beers, ales, wine and soft drinks to chilli beers and ciders.

Browse over 180 stalls. There will be a great variety of quirky gifts on offer as well as chilli foods, chilli plants, seeds and produce.


And of course, don’t forget the stars of the show and the reason why West Dean Gardens has become a magnet for all things chilli.

Do visit the Glasshouses in the Walled Garden, brimming with over 250 varieties of chilli.


Make a weekend or a mini break of it and camp in the fabulous grounds of the West Dean Estate, near Chichester.

Full camping facilities are available throughout the weekend. A limited number of pitches are available so early booking is essential.

The campsite will be divided into family friendly, lively (for the night owls amongst us), stall holders, camper vans and caravans (will be located outside the main camping area).

West Dean College and Gardens are situated in South East England, six miles north of the historic city of Chichester and 12 miles from the south coast.

FAQ’s about Chilli Fiesta


What day does the campsite open?
The campsite is open from 9:00 am on Friday.

Can I bring my campervan?
Yes, we have pitches for tents, caravans and campervans.

Do you have separate camping areas for families?
The campsite will be divided into four different zones: Jalapeno – general camping area, close to the event arena. Pimento – quiet camping area away from the main arena ideal for a good night’s sleep. Bell – family friendly close to the toilets and showers, ideal for the earlier to bed but up bright and early. Chipotle – caravan and live-in vehicle area with electric hook ups. Please note no amplified music, sound systems or large radios are allowed in the campsite area.

Can I hook up to electricity from my caravan/campervan?
Yes, we provide electric hook ups for an extra £25. Please note there is limited availability for these so please book early to avoid disappointment.

Can I book for a large party?
Yes, we welcome groups, and there is a group rate (minimum of 10 per booking). Please contact Celia Dickinson on 01243 818221 for further details.

Will there be glamping?
Yes, each of our vintage inspired tents accommodates 2 adults in a full size bed with a real mattress and sumptuous cotton bed linen with a snuggly 13TOG duvet and beautiful handmade patchwork quilt blankets. Guests are supplied with tea and coffee making facilities and a pair of traditional deckchairs to soak up the summer sun in comfort.

Our classic bell tents have a lovely old fashioned feel but with all the facilities of the modern Glamping experience; including bedside lighting, electric radiator (if it gets a little chilly at night) a 240v socket outlet for charging phones and cameras etc. Towels are also provided so guests can enjoy the use of our superb shower facilities.

Will there be any stallholders providing breakfast for campers?
Breakfast will be available from the West Dean Deli and other food stalls.

Where do I go if I have a query?
The campsite office and shop will be open 24 hours a day, from 9.00 am on Friday 7th August to 11.00 am on Monday 10th August.

Can we park next to our tent?
No, but parking will be no more than 300 yards away.

What are the toilet facilities?
There will be lots of portaloos over the site, in both the main event and camping areas.

From what age do you charge children to camp?
Children under 5 are free.

What are the washing facilities?
There will be 24 hour shower and washing up facilities in the camping area.

Can I cook on the campsite?
Due to the fire risk, no open fires or disposable BBQs are allowed on site. Proper camping stoves or BBQs on legs are fine. Remember there will be a wide range of delicious food available from the stall holders, and breakfast from the West Dean Deli at 8.00 am.

Can I leave and return to the fiesta during the weekend?
You can leave by car, via the main gates. There is no way to leave on foot.

Do the gates shut at night?
No, the gates will be open all night but we will have 24 hour security.

Camping – can we turn up on the day?
Yes but spaces limited.

Is there camping on Sunday night?

I want to come on Friday evening only and camp, is that possible?
No.You would have to buy a full admission ticket for Friday with camping.

Are there showers?

Can I take my car onto the campsite to unload my tent?
Yes, and then the car must be taken back to the car park.


Is there disabled parking?
For disabled parking, drive to West Dean Gardens’ entrance and follow signs to the disabled parking area. We have set aside an area as close to the event as possible and staff will be available to help direct you on request.

Are there disabled facilities?
We offer disabled facilities in our West Dean Gardens Shop and Restaurant.


Do I need to book any events at the fiesta?
No, you can just turn up to our food demos.

When does the entertainment start?
Live music starts from midday to 9:00 pm on Friday and Saturday on the main stage (and then in the caberet tent until 11.00 pm) and 6.00 pm on Sunday.

What other events will be on?
Whilst you wander around the beautiful gardens of West Dean you can enjoy dance, music, cookery demonstrations and children’s activities as well as over 140 stalls.

What stalls will be there?
There will be a great variety of stalls selling quirky gifts as well as chilli related foods, chilli plants, seeds and produce, as well as art, homeware, ceramics, hampers and gifts.


Can I bring a picnic?
You are more than welcome to enjoy the stunning surroundings with your own picnic. If you prefer to eat out we have a number of tasty food and drink stalls.

What sort of food and drink will be available during the weekend?
There will be plenty of food stalls as well as three bars on site offering a selection of beverages. Food includes; freshly baked pizzas, gourmet spicy burgers, wraps, curries, bhajis, samosas, Thai, Moroccan, sweet & savoury crepes, local ice cream – Including West Dean Chilli Fiesta Stem Ginger, and Lime & Chilli – traditional Spanish churros. Hot & cold drinks include speciality coffees, tea, hot chocolate, iced coffee, fresh fruit smoothies, chilli beers and ciders, alcoholic ginger beer, ales and wine.

Will First Aid facilities be available?
There will be 24 hour First Aid cover.

How big is Chilli Fiesta?
We can accommodate up to 25,000 in the festival and up to 500 campers.

Are dogs allowed?
Dogs are allowed onto the campsite and into the event if they are kept on a lead. We would emphasise however that it could be hot, there will be loud music and large crowds. Should your dog become distressed or be a nuisance to other people, children or campsite users you will asked to leave the event or campsite.

Do you have a crèche?
We do not have any crèche facilities but there will be lots of fun for all the family, including camping and a special children’s area which will include vintage fun fair rides, Punch and Judy and face painting.

Do the stalls stay open in the evening?
The food stalls stay open in the evening (but only around the music on the front lawn). The trade stalls remain open until 6pm.

Where can I park and will I have to pay for parking?
Parking is free and will be available on-site via the West Dean Gardens’ entrance. Simply drive into the Gardens’ entrance where you will find sign-posts to guide you to the parking area. Please note, the College entrance will be closed to all visitors.


Children under 5 are free, including camping.

How much are the tickets?

Book your ticket in advance for the day or the whole weekend. Take advantage of early bird prices available until 5pm on Tuesday 4th August.

From what age do you charge children to camp?
Children under 5 are free.

Can I buy a whole weekend ticket, without camping?
No, weekend tickets are only available to campers. You will need to buy day tickets for each day you are attending.

Can I get a refund if I can’t make it on the day?
No, we can’t accommodate refunds.

I haven’t received my tickets yet, what should I do?
If you ordered your tickets online you won’t be sent a hard copy ticket. You should have received an email confirming your purchase, please print and bring this confirmation email with you.

How long does the evening entertainment go on for?
The music stops at 11:00 pm on Friday and Saturday, and 6pm on Sunday.

I haven’t had any tickets sent to me?
Print off the email confirmation which should show a bar code/reference number and bring it with you on the day.

When I print the pdf attachment it comes up too big and therefore does not show the full barcode?
This is not a problem providing the booking reference is showing.

What age range is a child ticket?
5-15 years old.

Do carer’s get in free with a disabled person?

I have a discount code but can’t find where to put it online?
You have to enter the discount code first which will then take you to the correct ticket screen.

Its not clear online if it is possible to pay on the gate?
Yes it is possible to pay on the gate.

Is it cheaper to book online, rather than buying tickets at the gate?
If you book by 5pm on Tuesday 4th August, you will qualify for early bird prices offering 15% discount. Ticket prices after this date and on the gate will be the same.
